Overview

Every listing here is either a support plan or a Backed Fund position — never a bare loan you can't trace back to a real repayment schedule. There are two different reasons a position ends up listed:

🏛️

Platform-recovered debt

A borrower missed a payment, Garder already paid their supporter in full, and the borrower has since defaulted on repaying Garder. An admin lists that debt, usually at a discount to what's owed, for anyone to take on the recovery.

🤝

A supporter's own position

A lender or Fund backer lists their own remaining balance for sale directly — no default involved at all. This is simply an exit option for a supporter who wants their money back before the term ends.

Buying a Listing

Browse open listings, review the details, and buy the ones that fit your risk appetite.

1

Check eligibility

You need an existing support offer or Fund backing on your account — buying debt is restricted to members already active as lenders.

2

Review the listing

Every listing shows the amount remaining, the asking price, the borrower's credit band, and whether the position is currently healthy or distressed. Their full trust profile — including their name — is available as a paid unlock (see below).

3

Accept the disclosure

For a distressed listing, you'll confirm you understand recovery isn't guaranteed. For a healthy listing, you're acknowledging ordinary lending risk — same as backing any other support plan.

4

Buy at the asking price

Your wallet is debited immediately. From that point, future repayments on this position come to you.

Recovery is never guaranteed — for a distressed listing especially. You're buying the right to whatever gets collected, at the price you paid, not a promise of full repayment.

Unlocking a Borrower's Full Profile

By default, a listing shows only the borrower's credit band. For a deeper look before you buy — their name, trust score, repayment history, support-amount range, completion rate, and Verified Earner status, plus who listed the debt for sale — you can unlock it from your wallet.

🔓

Unlock one listing — ₦200

A one-time, permanent unlock of a single listing's full borrower profile. Once paid, it stays unlocked for you — no expiry.

🎟️

48-hour all-listings pass — ₦1,000

Unlocks every listing on the Exchange — not just one — for 48 hours from purchase. Built for comparing several listings in one sitting.

💳

Charged straight from your wallet

A confirmation screen shows the exact price before anything is charged. Nothing moves until you confirm.

Negotiating a Price

Don't want to pay the full asking price? On a supporter-listed position, you can make an offer and negotiate instead of buying outright.

1

Make an offer

From the listing page, tap "Make an Offer" and name your price. The seller is notified.

2

Either side can counter

The seller can accept, decline, or counter with a different price. Whoever receives an offer responds — you can keep going back and forth until you land on a number, or one side walks away.

3

Accepting settles the price, not the sale

Once a price is agreed, you still complete the purchase yourself — same risk-disclosure checkbox as buying outright — now charged at the negotiated amount instead of the asking price.

4

Withdraw any time before it's accepted

Changed your mind? Withdraw your offer while it's still pending, no penalty.

Not available on platform-recovered debt — negotiation only applies to a supporter's own listed position, since a platform-recovered listing has no individual seller to negotiate with. Those remain fixed-price.

Selling Your Own Position

If you're a supporter on a support plan or backing a Fund, you can list your remaining balance for sale — whether the borrower is current or has fallen behind.

📍

Where to list from

Open the support plan (from "My Backing") or the Fund you're backing, and look for List for Sale. You'll set your own asking price.

💳

You're paid directly by the buyer

Garder isn't a party to this sale — it's wallet-to-wallet between you and the buyer, at the price you asked for. Garder doesn't currently charge a fee on these sales.

🔄

The borrower is notified, not asked

Their repayment schedule and the total they owe don't change — only who receives it. They're told about the change; it doesn't require their approval, the same way a loan servicer can change hands elsewhere.

FAQ

Why can't I buy a listing if I've never lent before?

Debt listings — even healthy ones — carry ordinary lending risk. Restricting purchases to members with existing lending history keeps buyers to people already familiar with that risk on this platform.

What happens if the borrower never repays?

For a distressed listing, that's the risk you accepted when buying it — there's no guarantee or refund from Garder. For a healthy listing that later goes overdue, you're in the same position any other supporter would be in.

Can I sell a position I bought from someone else?

Yes — once a position is yours (platform-recovered or bought directly from another supporter), you can list it again the same way.

Does listing my position cost anything?

Garder doesn't currently charge a fee on a supporter's own listing — you set the asking price and receive exactly that if it sells.

Can I withdraw a listing before it sells?

Yes, listings can be withdrawn any time before a buyer purchases them.

Can I negotiate the price instead of paying the asking price?

On a supporter-listed position, yes — make an offer from the listing page and the seller can accept, decline, or counter. Platform-recovered listings are fixed-price only, since there's no individual seller to negotiate with.

What's the difference between "healthy" and "distressed" on a listing?

Healthy means the position is currently on schedule with no missed payments — you're simply stepping in as the new supporter. Distressed means the borrower has already missed a payment and, for platform-recovered debt, already defaulted on repaying Garder directly.

What exactly do I get when I unlock a listing?

The borrower's name, trust score, full repayment history and behaviour, previous support-amount range, completion rate, Verified Earner status, and who listed the debt for sale — everything the credit-band summary leaves out.

Does unlocking one listing unlock others too?

No — a single-listing unlock only covers that one listing, permanently. If you want every listing unlocked at once, buy the all-listings pass instead; it covers everything for a limited number of hours rather than one listing forever.
